Annual Meeting News: State Epidemiologist to Update Members & Guests on Ebola Outbreak and Other Infectious Diseases

ZackMoore 2013 8X10NC Epidemiologist Zack Moore, MD, MPH, will speak to NCMS members and guests on the recent outbreaks of infectious diseases such as Ebola and Enterovirus D68 during his talk entitled “Emerging Infections: Preparedness and Response in North Carolina. “

Dr. Moore is currently a Medical Epidemiologist with the Communicable Disease Branch of NC DHHS. His duties include surveillance for respiratory diseases, healthcare-associated infections, and vaccine-preventable diseases, as well as consultation with local health departments regarding outbreaks and other communicable disease issues. He received his medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a master’s degree in public health from Harvard University. Dr. Moore completed an internship and residency in Pediatrics at Stanford University. Following residency, he worked with the National Immunization Program at the CDC before completing fellowship training in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Emory University. Dr Moore began working with the North Carolina Division of Public Health in 2006 as an officer with the CDC’s Epidemic Intelligence Service.

His talk will take place during Friday’s House of Delegates, beginning at 3:00 pm. The NCMS Annual Meeting will take place at the Grandover Resort, Greensboro, from October 24-25. For more information on events, download a detailed on-site brochure (PDF).
