Federal Appeals Court Strikes Down PPACA Insurance Requirement

A federal appeals court has struck down the requirement in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) that nearly all Americans must carry health insurance or face penalities. The ruling was handed down Friday by a divided three-judge panel of the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. Twenty-six states had sued to block the law in the case of State of Florida v. U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 11-11021, U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit (Atlanta). The Washington Post reported that the Obama Administration is expected to ask the full 11th Circuit to review the ruling.
