Medical Board Assembles Task Force on Specialty and Board Certification Advertising

In November of last year the North Carolina Medical Board considered the adoption of a proposed rule concerning physician advertising of specialty board certification. In response to the many public comments received by the NCMB regarding this proposal, the Medical Board has appointed a task force to gather more information, receive testimony and study the matter.

NCMS Dismisses Compliance Dispute With BCBSNC Over October 2009 Contract Addendum

In December 2009, the NCMS filed a settlement compliance dispute against Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBSNC) in reference to a contract addendum that BCBSNC issued last year. BCBSNC, with input from the NCMS and other organizations, recently crafted a more acceptable addendum, leading the NCMS to dismiss the compliance dispute.

    If SGR is not fixed, MC pts. access to care will decline, and primary care physician supply will decline even further.
