The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has delayed the enforcement of new documentation requirements for physicians ordering home health services until a new deadline of April 1, 2011.  After that date physicians will be required to have a face-to-face encounter with a patient prior to ordering home health services and report information regarding that encounter, such as the date of the consultation and the clinical condition of the patient requiring such services.  More information can be found by visiting the CMS website at: http://www.cms.gov/MLNMattersArticles/downloads/SE1038.
