DHHS Recognizes Radiation Safety Month

November has been designated as Radiation Safety Month by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and the Radiation Protection Section in an effort to assist North Carolina physicians and their patients to take radiation safety measures. This is a collaborative effort to educate the public and promote education and guidance pertaining to radiation treatment.

The proclamation was signed and presented to the Radiation Protection Section by Governor Beverly Perdue.

DHHS has distributed material emphasizing “safety culture” in facilities utilizing radiation. Please join DHHS in recognizing Radiation Safety Month by speaking with your patients and practice staff about the importance of a safe environment while using radiation for treatment.
