Doctors Promote Access in Triangle TV Outreach

Sixteen  physicians representing family medicine, internal medicine and pediatrics took part in a special WRAL-TV Doctors on Call program on November 12, 2010. Over 350 viewers from more than two dozen counties were able to talk with a physician for free during the WRAL News block, 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm. The program was hosted by NCMS member and medical reporter, Allen Mask, MD, of Raleigh. The NCMS wishes to thank the North Carolina Academy of Family Physicians (NCAFP) and the North Carolina Pediatric Society (NCPS) for their assistance in helping to produce the program.

NCMS President-Elect Robert W. Monteiro, MD, New Bern, and State Health Director Jeffrey Engel, MD, were among the physicians who participated.  Several NCAFP Officers also took part: President R.W. “Chip” Watkins, MD, MPH, FAAFP, Greensboro; Vice President Brian Forrest, MD, Apex; and Board Chair Robert L. Rich, Jr., MD, Bladenboro. Drs. Engel, Watkins, Forrest and Rich are also NCMS members.
