NCMS Past President E. Harvey Estes Jr., MD, has been chosen to receive the Jim Bernstein Community Health Career Achievement Award by the NC Foundation for Advanced Health Programs. Dr. Estes will be honored at the Annual Jim Bernstein Dinner and Lecture on October 7, 2010, at the Friday Center in Chapel Hill. The Foundation welcomes friends and colleagues of Dr. Estes to attend and honor his work on behalf of North Carolina communities. This year’s lecture will be given by Emily Friedman, Independent Health Policy and Ethics Analyst, a nationally recognized expert on health policy and ethics.

All proceeds from the event support the Jim Bernstein Health Leadership Fellowship, which provides training and stipends to health professionals early in their careers who are providing care in underserved NC communities.
