Dr. Osbahr Elected to AMA Board of Trustees

NCMS Past President Albert J. Osbahr, MD, was elected to the AMA Board of Trustees at the AMA Annual Meeting in Chicago on Tuesday. A member of the North Carolina AMA Delegation since 1998, Dr. Osbahr has served two terms on the AMA Council on Science and Public Health and is the current chair. He has also been a member of the AMA Council on Medical Service.

“As physicians, we need to establish a solid voice on behalf of the profession and our patients to work toward solutions to the challenges facing health care today,” said Dr. Osbahr.

Active in the North Carolina Medical Society since his medical student days, Dr. Osbahr was appointed and served on the North Carolina Governor’s Task Force on Public Health and the first review panel for the North Carolina Medical Board. He is also a member of the national One Health Commission Board, serving as chairman the past two years.

Dr. Osbahr is a family and occupational physician from Hickory, NC, where he serves as medical director of Occupational Health Services at Catawba Valley Medical Center. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received his medical degree from the UNC School of Medicine. He completed a family residency at Marshall University School of Medicine and an occupational/preventive medicine residency at the University of Kentucky. He is board certified in family, occupational and preventive medicine.
