The Durham-Orange County Medical Society (DOCMS) held their monthly meeting on Wednesday, December 8, 2010, installing officers for 2011and presenting the 2010 Jerry Nance Community Service Awards.

2011 Officers:

Past President Devdutta Sangvai, MD, MBA, FFAFP will serve in the newly established role of President Emeritus to the DOCMS Board of Directors.

The 2010 Jerry Nance Community Service Awards were presented to three outstanding local physicians:

Maurice Landers, III, MD, for his work in establishing the SHAC Ophthalmology Clinic at UNC

Joseph A. Moylan, MD, for founding and continuing to direct the activities of the Durham Nativity School www.durhamnativity.org

James R. Snapper, MD, for his multiple medical mission trips, including five to Haiti in the past year.
