Haiti Relief Update

The American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) has called on immediate past president Michael W. Brennan, MD, of Burlington to head its Academy Task Force on Haiti Recovery. The call came just two days after the earthquake devastated the Haitian capital and surrounding area. Dr. Brennan was attending a meeting of the Pan-American Association of Ophthalmology (PAAO), when AAO executive VP David W. Parke II, MD, decided to form the Task Force. A military veteran with extensive experience with humanitarian efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan, Dr. Brennan says the Task Force works collaboratively with the PAAO and the Haitian Society of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Brennan is a co-founder of the NCMS Leadership College and has been actively involved with the NCMS for many years.  An article about Dr. Brennan and the Task Force, written by Lori Baker Schena, is featured in the Clinical Update section of EYENET, the AAO’s monthly publication for members.
