House Speaker Names Select Committee on Tort Reform

Speaker Thom Tillis (R, Mecklenburg) named a House Select Committee on Tort Reform this week to specifically address the issue this session. This is a clear indication of the leadership’s intent to examine and pass some kind of lawsuit reform that was discussed in earnest during the last campaign season. The select committee is expected to begin meetings as early as next week. It is empowered to address House bills as well as bills from the NC Senate.
