North Carolina Dermatology Association (NCDA) 2013 Annual Meeting will be held Friday-Sunday, January 11-13, 2013 at the Charlotte Marriott City Center, Charlotte, N.C. The meeting will evaluate dermatological practice needs, discuss systemic approaches to recalcitrant severe atopic dermatitis, analyze the effective use of isotretinoin in severe acne vulgaris, recognize common fungal infections and review management, and much more. Attendees can receive up to 11.25 AMA PRA Category 1 credits™. NCMS member Grace Terrell, MD, CPE, FACP, FACPE also will provide an update regarding value-driven healthcare. Behavioral Health Intensive Program will hold two sessions: the adult only session will be held on February 1,8 & 9, 2013 and the Child session will be held on February 15 and March 8 & 9, 2013.  This Intensive Program is for Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners who work with large numbers of patients with behavioral health needs.

The program begins with topics in adult behavioral health presented in a three-day in-person training followed by five monthly web-based case discussions (“webinars”). This is followed by another three-day in-person training accompanied by five monthly webinars in child and adolescent behavioral health. Monthly group phone supervision and case discussion with a psychiatrist is provided throughout the program for a total of ten months. In addition, the program includes its own web-based Learning Center that provides copies of the presentations, articles, scales, self assessment tools and group discussions. 2013 CODEquest Coding College will take place on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the Benton Convention Center, Winston Salem, N.C. This conference is a venture between the North Carolina Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Academy of Ophthalmic Executives. The six-hour course covers 2013 Ophthalmology coding updates, audit updates, information regarding sample coding surgical cases, tips for best run practices, examples of costly coding errors and mistakes, and an ICD-10 workshop.
