Medical Board Assembles Task Force on Specialty and Board Certification Advertising

In November of last year the North Carolina Medical Board considered the adoption of a proposed rule concerning physician advertising of specialty board certification. The proposed rule can be viewed here.

In response to the many public comments received by the NCMB regarding this proposal, the Medical Board has appointed a task force to gather more information, receive testimony and study the matter.  The first meeting of the task force will be held on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at 6 pm at the NC Medical Board’s office in Raleigh.  NCMS Staff will be attending this meeting.  Click here to view the Medical Board’s meeting notice to task force members as well as a list of those serving on the task force.

The Medical Board is receiving public comments on this issue and has asked that all written comments be mailed to:

Please note, the Medical Board has stated via their website that, “Comments transmitted by fax or email will not be considered.”   Also, all comments must be received by the Medical Board by Saturday, May 15, 2010.   The North Carolina Medical Society will be sure to hand deliver to the Medical Board any copies of  faxes, emails or other correspondence that it has received related to this issue prior to the May 15th deadline.
