MGMA Honors NC Health Care Executives

Michael. T. Brohawn, FACMPE, practice administrator of Wake Emergency Physicians PA, Cary, was awarded the Legislative Liaison of the Year Award by the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) at their 2009 Annual Conference in Denver, Colorado. The award recognizes a medical practice professional who has provided outstanding leadership in educating and motivating MGMA members through grassroots involvement in legislative and regulatory issues of importance to medical group practices. Brohawn is president-elect of the North Carolina MGMA (NC MGMA) and chairs the NC MGMA’s Political Advocacy Committee.

Larrie Dawkins, CMPE, chief compliance officer with Wake Forest University Health Services in Winston-Salem was awarded the MGMA’s Certificate of Meritorious Service at the conference. The MGMA Board and ACMPE Board voted to present the certificate to Dawkins for having served the profession of medical practice management in an exceptional leadership capacity.  Dawkins was instrumental in the implementation of the MGMA’s first investment policy as well as the formation of the investment Advisory Subcommittee.  He is a past president of the MGMA and a member of the NC MGMA.
