The American College of Physicians has recognized the Carolinas Chapter/ACP as a 2010 recipient of the Chapter Excellence Award. The award recognizes those chapters of the College which have attained a minimum level of activity and achievement. Organizational and operational categories assessed include overall chapter management, chapter meetings, committee activity, advocacy efforts, collaboration with organized medicine, outreach to students and residents, and communications with members. Winners of this award must meet a basic set of criteria for managing a chapter. Byron Hoffman, MD, is the current Governor of the NC Chapter, ACP.
