The 2012 North Carolina/South Carolina Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery Assembly will be held next Friday-Sunday, August 3-5, 2012, at Grove Park Inn Resort and Spa, Asheville, NC. This continuing medical education activity is sponsored by the North Carolina Society of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery (NC OHNS) and Wake Area Health Education Center (Wake AHEC). Participants can earn up to 9.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™.
The assembly will provide otolaryngologists and residents in training with practical, case-based knowledge and skills regarding:
- Minimal access thyroid surgery;
- Image modalities and management of more extensive thyroid cancer;
- Transoral robotic surgery (TORS);
- Implantable auditory assistive devices;
- Practice management and Meaningful Use.
David Terris, MD, an Edward S. Porubsky Distinguished Professor, and chairman of the department of otolaryngology – head and neck surgery and surgical director of the Thyroid Center at Georgia Health Sciences University in Augusta, GA, will speak at the event. Dr. Terris will discuss new and emerging techniques in endoscopic and robotic thyroidectomy as well as provide information about parathyroidectomy.
