The North Carolina Academy of Family Physicians presented the 2009 North Carolina Family Physician of the Year Award to Charles W. Rhodes, MD, of Concord at the NCAFP’s Annual Meeting in December. Dr. Rhodes has practiced in Cabarrus County since 1987 and was recognized for his many contributions to strengthen the local health care system, train new family physicians and donate time to several community service and betterment organizations.
The NCAFP President’s Award was presented to Eugenie Komives, MD, a family physician from Chapel Hill and current Vice President and Senior Medical Director for Healthcare Quality for Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBSNC). Dr. Komives was recognized for her work in enhancing collaborative relationships between BCBSNC and North Carolina’s family medicine community.
