The North Carolina Medical Society’s Annual Meeting has just kicked off in Raleigh this afternoon. Robert W. Monteiro, MD welcomed the NCMS House of Delegates today citing many successes of the Society in recent years including the creation of the Kanof Endowment, the maintenance of medical liability reform laws passed in 2011 and continued support of the Community Care of North Carolina (CCNC) Program.

Under the leadership of Dr. Monteiro, the NCMS has launched a Toward Accountable Care Consortium and Initiative as well as a new Opioid Death Reduction Task Force both efforts aimed at addressing critical issues in a changing health care system.
