Michael P. Moulton, MD, a board-certified specialist in Emergency Medicine, was installed as the 159th President of the North Carolina Medical Society at our Annual Meeting on Oct. 26, 2012, at the Raleigh Marriot City Center Hotel.
Since 1994, Dr. Moulton has been a practicing physician with Eastern Carolina Emergency Physicians in Wilmington. He has been highly involved over the years in a variety of leadership roles with the North Carolina Medical Society serving on the Board of Directors since 2002. His committee service includes the Governance Task Force, the EMS Advisory Committee, the Medical Review Panel and the Nominating and Leadership Committee. Most recently he has served as President-Elect and, prior to that role, as Speaker of the House of Delegates. From 2001 to 2010 he was a North Carolina Alternate Delegate to the American Medical Association.
A native of Huntington Beach, California, Dr. Moulton received his undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of California, San Diego, and an MS in Biology from San Diego State University. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas, Health Science Center in San Antonio, and completed his residency at the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
