NCMS Legislative Relations Director Chip Baggett Receives Presidential Citation

Chip Baggett Headshot 2011Legislative Relations Director Chip Baggett received a surprise honor from Immediate Past-President Robert Monteiro, MD. Dr. Monteiro, citing his close work with Chip during his tenure as president and also during his many years as legislative cabinet chair, wanted to recognize Chip for his exceptional service to the NCMS.

“I came to realize very quickly how talented, dedicated and hard working he is in advocating for the medical profession in the North Carolina General Assembly,” Dr. Monteiro said during his introduction of Chip. “After our huge tort reform victory and keeping the Medicaid budget from being eviscerated, I wanted to take this opportunity as President to acknowledge Chip Baggett for his incredible work.”

Chip has been with NCMS since April 2007 and last year was ranked 11th out of 60 of the most influential lobbyists in the state, according to legislators, fellow lobbyists and Capital News correspondents when polled by the North Carolina Center for Public Policy Research.

Chip is a graduate of Appalachian State University with a degree in Art Education for K-12 students. He currently is in his first year of law school at North Carolina Central University Law School as an evening student.
