NCMS Meets with NC Congressional Delegation in Washington, D.C.

While in Washington, D.C., North Carolina Medical Society (NCMS) CEO Robert Seligson met with both North Carolina senators — US Senator Richard Burr and US Senator Kay Hagan — and other members of the NC Congressional Delegation to discuss current activities relating to implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The first major step in ACA implementation begins October 1, 2013, when state health care exchanges will open to the public to compare health care coverage options.

The delegation also asked about our position on Medicaid reform in North Carolina, and the on-going debate in the state legislature over the best way to reform the program.

“They were very interested in our position on the issue, and very appreciative of our involvement and commitment to working with the Governor and state legislature to craft positive and sustainable reforms,” Seligson said, noting that meetings are on-going with the McCrory administration and legislators on this important issue.
