The NCMS met recently with representatives of the NC Medical Board to discuss elements of the Board’s position statement entitled Writing of Prescriptions that appear to discourage or prohibit licensees from e-prescribing controlled substances. At the Board’s request, the NCMS submitted its recommendations, noting that the position should be consistent with state law and federal regulations that permit e-prescribing of controlled substances. The NCMB plans to discuss this position statement at its May meeting.
