NCTracks Updates from the Department of Health and Human Services

The following information is provided by the NC Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) for users of the NCTracks, Medicaid claims system.

Reminder about Internet Explorer 10

The internet browser, Internet Explorer 10, is not currently supported by NCTracks. Supported browsers include Internet Explorer 8 and 9 and Firefox. Check the “System Requirements” link at the bottom of every NCTracks webpage for a complete description of supported browsers and other software requirements.

Providers will be notified when Internet Explorer 10 has been tested and certified with NCTracks. In the meantime, if you are using Internet Explorer 10, you may find that buttons on some provider portal screens are not visible or do not function properly. You can download and install Firefox here to access the full functionality of NCTracks.

Checkwrite for the Week of Veteran’s Day

Because of the Veteran’s Day holiday on Monday, November 11, the checkwrite date that week will be delayed by one day. The posting and availability of funds to provider bank accounts will depend on the provider’s financial institution. Wells Fargo customers should see their payments in their accounts on the day that the EFT is processed, which will be Thursday (11/14/2013). Providers who bank at other financial institutions should see payments the business day following the date that the EFT is processed, which will be Friday (10/15/2013) afternoon. (Some may post sooner.) The change is for this week only, per the published checkwrite schedules.

The checkwrite schedules for both DMA and DMH/DPH/ORHCC can be found under the Quick Links on the right side of the Provider Portal home page.

Note that the 2014 NCTracks Checkwrite Schedules will be posted soon. Look for an upcoming announcement.

Reminder About the Automated Voice Response System

The Automated Voice Response System (AVRS) allows enrolled providers to readily access detailed information on the following N.C. Medicaid, N.C. Health Choice, and Department of Public Health (DPH) topics using a touch-tone telephone:

  • Checkwrite Information
  • Current Claim Status
  • Prior Approval Information for DPH
  • Recipient Eligibility Verification

Providers are granted access by entering either their National Provider Identifier (NPI) or Atypical Provider Number. Provider and Recipient must be in the same health/ benefit plan for all inquiries on recipient eligibility.

Providers can access the AVRS by dialing 1-800-723-4337. A Job Aid detailing the AVRS prompts is available on SkillPort.

Medicare Crossover Workshop Coming Soon

A workshop to help providers understand how NCTracks processes Medicare crossovers and other secondary claims is coming soon. The workshop will include guidance regarding what information to submit on Medicare and third party insurance claims to facilitate a successful “crossover” to Medicaid, an explanation of how to file secondary claims directly to NCTracks (when necessary), common errors found on secondary claims, and a discussion of the methodology used in pricing and payment of secondary claims. The workshop is intended to assist providers who have questions and concerns about the processing of Medicare crossovers and other secondary claims.

The workshop will be offered as a webinar. Providers will need to register in advance on SkillPort to attend the workshop.

More details are forthcoming, including the date and time of the workshop, as well as notification of when registration is open on SkillPort.
