New Documentary Details Fight to Rescue American Healthcare

It’s not often that there is a movie about healthcare in theaters. Today is an exception. Escape Fire: The Fight to Rescue American Healthcare opened October 5 in select theaters. The documentary is a depiction of America’s broken healthcare system. A central theme of the movie is that health care institutions have not been focused on outcomes, and that the United States doesn’t really have a healthcare system, but rather a pain management or disease management system. The movie interweaves dramatic personal stories with the efforts of leaders battling to transform healthcare at the highest levels of medicine, industry, government, and even the military.

‘Escape Fire’ offers a way out—a primer on how to save the health of a nation. The documentary has already won awards at film festivals and a Best Picture nomination at the Sundance Film Festival for Directors Matthew Heineman and Susan Froemke. This is a film you do not want to miss. If the documentary is not playing in a theater near you, you may find it online or on demand.
