On Thursday, the Obama Administration announced the formation of a new public-private partnership to combat health care fraud. So far, the voluntary partnership includes multiple federal agencies, state Medicaid officials, private health insurers, and health care anti-fraud groups. According to early details, the participants will share information regarding specific instances of fraud, review billing codes, and focus on “geographical fraud hotspots.” Participants will hold their first meeting regarding the partnership in September.

Details about the work of this new group are still emerging. The NCMS is very interested in how the members of this group will interact, the information that will be shared, the actions that will follow, and how physician practices will be affected. We will be watching this closely so stay tuned for future updates.
