Palmetto GBA Introduces a New Refund Notification Process

In response to physician concerns regarding refunds received by Palmetto Government Benefits Administrators (GBA) and reconciling these refunds to patient accounts, the Medicare contractor announced last month that they will implement a new refund notification process in order to more efficiently manage refunds issued to physicians.

The refund letter will include the refund amount, patient information, Remittance Advice (RA) date, refund reason, and AR/overpayment number. These changes will make it easier for physicians to reconcile payment activity. Palmetto GBA plans to release the notification letter within five to seven business days of the remittance advice date.
