Palmetto GBA has begun implementation of the new Jurisdiction 11 (J11) A/B Medicare Administrative Contract (A/B MAC) in North Carolina. Palmetto was officially awarded the Medicare contract on September 30, 2010 and is now releasing important information pertaining to its new responsibilities as our local claims administrator for Medicare fee-for-service.

Palmetto has also designated May 28, 2011 as its Operational Date – the date on which outgoing contractor, CIGNA Government Services, will transfer all pending and in-process Part B operations to Palmetto, including claims, appeals, and enrollment applications. It is also on this date that physicians and practices will be required to use a New Payer ID Number when filing Part B claims.
