Program Trains Prescribers on Safe Use of Opioids

A new resource is helping prescribers and prescribers-in-training learn about how to combat opioid misuse.

The initiative, Prescribers’ Clinical Support System for Opioid Therapies (PCSS-O), is a free program led by American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry in conjunction with several other organizations. It is funded by Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT).

Participants can use the program’s online modules, webinars and peer support program to learn how to safely and effectively use opioid medications to treat pain and/or opioid addiction.
