Anesthesiologist/Intensivist Gerald A. Maccioli, MD, of Raleigh has been chosen to be a member of the new AMA Committee on Innovation. AMA Board of Trustees Chair Ardis D. Hoven, MD, says the twelve-member committee is comprised of physicians who are leading initiatives to implement emerging payment and delivery reforms and can help other physicians learn the steps needed to get such programs off the ground. The committee will seek to examine challenges faced by physicians, the impact of reforms on patient care and costs, and determinants for successful practice.

Dr. Maccioli has served as a Member of the NCMS Accountable Care Organization (ACO) Task Force and led the ACO Work Group and the Task Force on ACOs at the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA).
