I don’t believe that Gov’t involvement is the answer. 

Example: Medicare Part D.  Offering Rx coverage to seniors.  We created real competition our front & a risk adjustment afterward.

We need to do that same thing.  Create competition.  That would change the dynamics of healthcare on day 1.

Also important: Portability.  Insurance can be taken around and doesn’t include pre-existing conditions. 

Today’s insurers typically have consumers 4 yrs.  Prevention is not as much of a focus bc you’re not reaping the savings. 

Portability changes that.   And could change the relationship to a more cooperative relationshpi between insurers and hospitals/physician offices.

I know it’s not that simple.  But a focus on portability would be a great start.
