U.S. Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) continues to oppose H.R. 3590—the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. In a letter to the NCMS (January 29, 2010), Burr explained that he voted against the bill because he does not believe the legislation “is the right prescription for America’s health care system.” Burr reiterated that he supports reform of the current health care system by reducing health care costs and making insurance more affordable for the uninsured, including a guaranteed access to coverage for those with pre-existing conditions.
