Study Group Looks at How to Better Control Health Care Costs

NCMS EVP, CEO Robert W. Seligson and NCMS Foundation Associate Executive Director Maggie Sauer attended the NC Institute of Medicine’s Health Access Study Group on Wednesday, February 17, 2010. The session focused on how comparative effectiveness research, and improved quality and prevention can help to control the costs of health care delivery. Presentations were led by Timothy Carey, MD, Director of the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research at UNC-CH; Annette DuBard, MD, Director of Informatics, Quality and Evaluation for the NC Community Care Networks; and Carol Koeble, MD, Director of the NC Hospital Association’s NC Center for Hospital Quality and Patient Safety. The meeting included a discussion of strategies to improve quality and efficiency in  physicians’ practices.
