Latest results from the NCMS health system reform survey finds more than half of the physicians believe changes are needed to correct problems with the U.S. health care system. Of the 465 physicians who have responded, 55.1% favor changes in the current health care system, while 40.9% indicate the system is in need of significant reform, and 4.1% feel the system should kept basically the same as it is today.
Asked about current health care reform legislation, 47.8% do not support either the House or Senate reform plans, with 33.2% supporting some provisions of both proposals. On the creation of a public option plan, 55.3% oppose it, and 39.9% support it, with 4.8% expressing no opinion.

AMA: A poor joke for 20-plus years. Out of touch, non-practicing, elitist, greedy, myopic, etc.
WHAT WE NEED is not in any current bill:
1. Competition with state borders open to all medical payment plans and systems.
2. Reduce or eliminate govt. mandates on what is covered and what is not covered. People should be mature enough to decide these options.
3. Get 3rd-party medical payments out of the office. People can afford office medicine better than anything they purchase at, say, Kroger’s or even Best Buy. At least offer an option that excludes office visits.
4. Tort reform. To some degree. It is un-Constitutional to eliminate some amount of liability for physicians, but everyone knows current procedures and policies are egregious.
5. Reduce government spending in medicine. It distorts the free market such that prices have become inflated while govt-funded programs operate at a deficit. None of us can function in perpetual debt (although the liberals in govt. are trying to create a permanent welfare constituency that is in perpetual debt).
WHAT IS BAD:
Everything in the current House and Senate bills. Not only do they represent buy-offs and quid pro quos that put the Roman Empire to shame, the mandates are quasi or completely un-Constitutional. The cost will exceed the advance billing by at least 50-times, just like Medicare/MDCD. In short, they are not “healthcare bills”, they are “govt. power bills” which punish any level of success a person can acheive.
Addendum: What is “healthcare”? A majority of a person’s health is decided outside of the medical care system, and should remain outside of the the true medical treatment system.
