The NCMS Congratulates Two NC Physicians On Recent Surgical Advancements

The North Carolina Medical Society (NCMS) would like to congratulate Jeffrey Lawson, MD, and Philip Brown, Jr., MD, on recent achievements in the field of medicine.

Dr. Lawson, a vascular surgeon, and a team of physicians at Duke University Hospitals “performed the first U.S. implantation of a bioengineered blood vessel,” a new technology they hope “will eventually replace synthetic grafts.” Read the full article from The News & Observer here.

Dr. Brown, a Wilmington Health vascular surgeon, is the first physician in the U.S. to place an Endurant Aorto-Uni-lliac Stent Graft System (Endurant AUI), allowing his patient to have a minimally invasive operation and a faster recovery. Read the full article on Wilmington Health’s website.
