The original, released in 1956, as well as the newly revised and formatted North Carolina Medico-Legal Guidelines are the product of on-going collaboration between the North Carolina Medical Society (NCMS) and North Carolina Bar Association. The Guidelines are the end-product of decades of cooperation between physicians and attorneys aimed at improving their inter-professional interactions in medical litigation. The Guidelines are not intended to and do not expand or limit any obligations of physicians or attorneys under existing federal or state laws or regulations. The newly updated guidelines are available for your reference at the NCMS website.
