What is White Coat Wednesday? Why should I participate?

Your NCMS government affairs team has established White Coat Wednesdays to give you an opportunity to learn more about the legislative process and experience firsthand how the decisions are made at the General Assembly.  These actions can have a direct impact on your ability to provide care to your patients. Many hot topics are currently being debated in the House and Senate, including medical liability reform, budget cuts that could impact your Medicaid reimbursement rates and a variety of scope of practice issues that could directly affect your specialty of practice.

Every Wednesday morning, the NCMS government team briefs White Coat Wednesday participants about legislative activities. Handouts/talking points are made available to ensure that you are well equipped to speak with confidence about specific pieces of legislation and can incorporate your personal stories and experiences into conversations with your legislators.

Your participation, whether for the whole day or just a few hours,  let’s you speak directly to members of the NC House and Senate and lay the ground work for future conversations that can help achieve our goals for health care delivery in North Carolina.

We are working hard to recruit as many physicians as possible to take part in White Coat Wednesdays over the next few months. Legislators have come to expect to see white coats walking the halls of the legislative buildings every week, and the more we can pack those halls, the greater the impact we will make!
