Where to Send Inadvertent EHR Incentive Payment

The NCMS has recently been contacted by medical practices seeking information on how to return their payment for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Program after realizing that they have reported incorrectly. For those physicians who have inadvertently received EHR incentive money from CMS, returned checks can be sent to:

EHR HiTech Incentive Program
PSDC PO Box 809338
Chicago, IL 60680-9338

A detailed letter should be included explaining the erroneous submission and why the check is being returned. Physicians should keep a copy of the letter and check sent to the address indicated for their reference.

Remember that the reporting period for the EHR Incentive Program begins Wednesday, October 3, 2012. Consecutive reporting is required to attest to Meaningful Use and to receive an incentive payment for this year. It is important that reporting is done accurately. Physicians who need assistance with attesting to Meaningful Use may contact Terri Gonzalez, NCMS Director of Practice Improvement, at 800-722-1350 or [email protected]. The NCMS offers consulting services to assist physicians and their practices with practice management needs. NCMS members can receive these services at a discounted rate.
