An 85,000 square foot Multi-Specialty Outpatient Clinic will be opening in Wilmington in late 2012 to serve veterans who live in coastal Carolina. Groundbreaking for the facility was held on September 19, 2011. The new clinic is being built by Summit Smith Healthcare Facilities from Milwaukee. Construction is expected to take about 12 months at a cost of around $25 million. The Veterans Administration (VA) says it will take an additional three months to outfit the building following completion. Once opened, the clinic will offer veterans primary and mental health care, along with specialty care such as audiology, cardiology, podiatry, radiology and dental care.
