The 3 percent Medicaid rate cut originally scheduled to take effect October 26 has been delayed. The state has not announced when it will implement the 3 percent reduction in Medicaid reimbursement for North Carolina physicians, but NCMS believes the revised implementation date will be in December at the earliest. The NC Division of Medical Assistance’s (DMA’s) official announcement says the 3 percent rate reduction has been delayed to a “future date,” and to watch the Medicaid Bulletin for updates. The delay is due to issues with the problem-plagued NCTracks Medicaid claims processing system.

The DMA also had anticipated re-processing any claims with dates of service from January 1, 2014 (when the reduction was originally to take effect) to the implementation date of October 26, which DMA had set back in September. That re-processing also has been delayed.

Those physicians who are receiving the enhanced reimbursements through the ACA are not subject to the state’s reduced rate until January 1, 2015.
