As the North Carolina General Assembly begins moving closer towards the passage of the budget and the recess of session, a flurry of healthcare-related bills continue to see action. On Thursday of this week SB 743 – Encourage Volunteer Health Care Providers, Goolsby (R-New Hanover) received a favorable report from the Senate Finance Committee, bringing volunteer health care providers who see referrals from non-profit community health referral services in their offices one step closer to the same limited immunity as free clinics and local health departments. The bill has been calendared for Monday evening’s Senate session.
Other legislation acted on this week:
- SB 307 – Smart Card Biometrics Against Medicaid Fraud, Hartsell (R-Cabarrus)
- HB 656 – Controlled Substances/Photo ID, Guice (R- Transylvania)
- HB 753 – Establish Radiologic Technicians Licensure, Insko (D-Orange)
