Investigative reporter Robin Fields this week published a study of dialysis care in the United States.  Fields told NPR’s Fresh Air host Terry Gross that she spent a year gathering information about dialysis care and the impact of Medicare policies dating back to the early 1980s. Jointly sponsored by ProPublica.com and  The Atlantic magazine, the study examined quality of care, costs and scope of practice issues that have evolved since dialysis centers first appeared nearly three decades ago.
