American College of Physicians NC Chapter Recognized for Excellence

The American College of Physicians (ACP) has announced that its North Carolina chapter has been recognized as a 2012 Chapter Excellence Award recipient. The award recognizes chapters that successfully meet the standards for managing a chapter.

In order to achieve the Chapter Excellence Award, chapters must meet numerous basic criteria and seven optional criteria. Criteria include activities such as formulating and maintaining an effective governance council and committees, communicating frequently with membership, providing educational opportunities, recruiting and advancing membership, and celebrating membership through appropriate recognition.

The Governor of the NC/ACP is Byron Hoffman, Jr., MD, of Siler City. In that capacity, Dr Hoffman presides over the chapter and its activities. The NC/ACP is managed through a cooperative arrangement with the North Carolina Medical Society.

Congratulations to NC/ACP.
