Attest to Meaningful Use in 2013 to Avoid 1 Percent Penalty in 2015

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced that if your practice attested for Adopt, Implement and Upgrade (AIU), and have not attested for Meaningful Use Stage 1 in 2013, you will be subject to the 2015 penalty of one (1) percent.

“We have been hearing from some providers that they have met the AIU for Medicaid, and do not intend to meet Stage 1 Meaningful Use in 2013,” reported the NCMS Director of Practice Improvement, Terri Gonzalez. “If your practice sees Medicare patients and does not attest to meaningful use in 2013, you will receive the one (1) percent penalty in 2015 from CMS.”

If you have any questions, the NCMS is here to help. Contact Terri by email here or phone at 919-833-3836 x123.
