Can the Social Media Revolution Reach the Medical Community?

Over the past several months, the NCMS has informed its members about how social media fits into the medical profession. We know that most patients turn to social media for medical content and often choose where to receive medical care based on online information. In retrospect, many medical practices are concerned about participating in social networking because it is a new form of communication that, if not handled correctly, may impact the physician-patient relationship.

Since there are so many uncertainties surrounding the medical profession’s involvement in social media, the NCMS will continue to educate and provide resources that may help practices become more familiar with this form of interaction.

The following video explains how social media has shaped and continues to impact our society. Do you think that this revolution will reach the medical community?
