The College of American Pathologists (CAP) named Jared N. Schwartz, MD, PhD, FACP as the Pathologist of the Year at a ceremony held on September 26 in Chicago.  The award recognizes Dr. Schwartz’s strong leadership while serving as president of the CAP from 2007 to 2009, and while serving as a member and chair of numerous committees and councils for the CAP over the years.

Dr. Schwartz is the chief medical officer for Aperio Technologies, Inc, and he currently serves as a consulting professor in the Department of Pathology at Stanford University in California. Prior to his position with Aperio, Dr. Schwartz was the director of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Presbyterian Healthcare in Charlotte, where he served as staff pathologist and chief of the medical staff.  He received his MD and PhD in pathology from Duke University.
