The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act signed into law by President Obama last month changes the deadlines to file Medicare fee-for-service claims. Claims must now be filed within one calendar year following the date of service. The deadline is effective for service dates beginning January 1, 2010. Any claims for services rendered prior to January 1, 2010 must be filed no later than December 31, 2010.
