Doctors Use White Coat Wednesday to Address NC Medicaid Reimbursement

WCW-6-23-10-GroupScholars from the 2010 NC Medical Society Leadership College, as well as physicians from the OB/GYN, American College of Physicians, Ophthalmology and Dermatology specialty societies gathered in Raleigh this week for White Coat Wednesday. With budget negotiations in full swing, the main focus of their legislative visits centered around establishing a floor for Medicaid Reimbursement rates and how programs such as Community Care of North Carolina (CCNC) are helping to save the state hundreds of millions of dollars every year.

NCMS President Douglas Sheets, MD, was on hand, spending his day talking about NCMS priorities with Governor Beverly Perdue and Lieutenant Governor Walter Dalton, as well as his local representatives from Rutherford County. NCMS President-Elect John Mangum, MD, also took part in the meeting with Governor Perdue. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the Medicaid program andits funding challenges.
