Holy Angels, a Belmont, NC program that works with young children who are medically fragile, especially infants with very special needs, presented its Dr. C. Ellis Fisher Caring Hands, Caring Heart Award to Docia Hickey, MD of Charlotte, on December 22, 2009. Dr. Hickey, Vice-Speaker of the NCMS House of Delegates, was recognized for serving as an advocate for families in need of Holy Angels services and for her special work done each year at Christmas. Since she joined the board at Holy Angels in 1997, Dr. Hickey has recruited co-workers to help provide special gifts to Holy Angels residents who are most in need. She and her husband, Fred Miller, present the gifts on Christmas Day.
