ICD-10 Reference Manual and Coding Guidelines Updated for 2013

An updated 2013 ICD-10-PCS Reference Manual and the FY 2013 ICD-10-CM Coding Guidelines are now available. The reference manual is available through the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The coding guidelines can be found on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website.

ICD-10 code sets, also known as International Classification of Diseases, 10th Edition diagnosis and procedures codes will include codes for new procedures and diagnoses that improve the information for quality improvement and payment purposes.

Keep in mind that CMS announced there will be a one-year delay, from October 1, 2013 to October 1, 2014 in meeting the requirements for ICD-10 compliance. Visit the CMS ICD-10 website to help you get prepared.
