Investigation Continues Into Who Is Responsible For Tax Scam

The North Carolina Medical Society (NCMS) continues to monitor the investigation into the tax scam that has affected an estimated 100 doctors in North Carolina. This scam, which involved fraudulently filing tax returns using stolen names and social security numbers, seems to have touched a disproportionate number of doctors throughout the country.

Special agents with the U.S. Secret Service and the Internal Revenue Service told the NCMS they are making progress toward identifying suspects. They stressed, however, that these types of investigations take time and that no arrests are expected before mid-summer.

Watch the NCMS website and this Bulletin for further updates.
